About five miles south of Habiganj town lies Mashajan's Dighi, a broad, centuries-old reservoir set in a wide stretch of land. Local history credits it to Syed Goyas Uddin, son of the medieval poet Syed Sultan, in the early 1500s. Sufi families in the region dug such tanks for drinking water and farming. Today it is a calm place of open water and village banks that few outsiders visit.
