Jashore is a market town of the south-west plains, famous for winter date palm molasses and for the flower fields of Gadkhali that supply much of the country. Michael Madhusudan Dutt's childhood home on the Kopotakkho draws literary visitors, and Jashore embroidery is known nationwide.
