The Jashore stitch is a style of dense, colourful hand embroidery done on cotton and silk. Thousands of rural women work on contract for local businesses, filling borders and yokes with flowers, vines and geometric patterns. Finished pieces are sold across the country and in boutiques in Dhaka. Shops in Jashore town sell directly at better prices.
