Jhanpa (also called Rajganj) Baor is a horseshoe-shaped lake left behind by an old river course in Manirampur upazila. It is listed as the main sight of the upazila. Villagers built a floating bridge across it on rows of drums, and walking over the water on it has made the baor a popular outing for families. Boat races are held on the lake. Late afternoon, with the light low over the water, is the nicest time.

How to get there

Bus from Jashore to Manirampur (about 45 minutes), then an easy bike to Rajganj bazar and Jhanpa village.

Good to know

The floating bridge moves underfoot; hold children's hands and avoid it when crowded or in strong wind. Ask locals about the boat race dates.
