Patenga lies at the southern tip of the city, close to the airport and the river mouth. The shore here is lined with concrete blocks rather than open sand, but the view is the draw: cargo ships waiting to enter the port, fishing boats, and planes coming in low overhead. In the evening families gather for fried crab, sea fish and spiced tea from the stalls along the promenade.

About 45 minutes by CNG or ride-share from central Chattogram, depending on traffic.

Good to know

Sunset is the best time. Swimming is not safe here because of strong currents and shipping traffic.
