The Madhupur tract is an area of raised red-soil land once covered in sal forest. Part of it is protected as Madhupur National Park, with trails, a watchtower and a rest area near Rasulpur. Garo (Mandi) communities have lived in and around the forest for generations. Early mornings bring birdsong and, with luck, capped langurs in the canopy.
