On the east bank of the Shitalakshya, at Nabiganj in Bandar, a small single-domed shrine keeps a stone said to carry the footprint of the Prophet Muhammad. The Mughal chronicler Mirza Nathan wrote that the Afghan chief Masum Khan Kabuli bought the relic from merchants who had brought it from Arabia. The present shrine was built in 1777–78 by Ghulam Nabi, a Dhaka landlord, and the relic is kept in a metal dish of rose water. Many people visit on Fridays and religious days.

How to get there

From Narayanganj town cross the Shitalakshya by boat from the Bandar/Nabiganj ghat, then walk or take a rickshaw to the dargah.

Good to know

Dress modestly and remove shoes. Fridays and religious holidays are crowded.
