Geneva Camp Kebab and Chaap

জেনেভা ক্যাম্পের কাবাব-চাপ

Evening grills of beef chaap, gurda and khiri kebab outside the Bihari camp in Mohammadpur.

The Urdu-speaking community of Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur has made this corner one of Dhaka's best-known kebab streets. Once the sun sets, small shops along the camp's edge fire up their grills for flattened beef chaap, kidney (gurda) chaap, brain fry and khiri kebab, eaten with soft paratha or naan. Mustakim's, which began as a stall outside Mohammadpur Government High School, is the best-known name, and several other kebab shops sit in the same row. The lanes inside the camp also sell Bihari sweets and late-night paan.

Good to know

Stalls open at dusk; in Ramadan they sell iftar boxes from the afternoon.
