Charmuguria, near Madaripur town, has long been known for its rhesus monkeys, which live alongside people in the old river-port area. In 2015 the Forest Department made this 4.2-hectare eco-park at Nayachar in Kumarkhali mouza as a sanctuary, hoping to move the monkeys there. Not all of them moved, so you may meet monkeys both in the park and in the bazar lanes. It is a simple, green spot rather than a polished attraction.

How to get there

Auto or easy-bike from Madaripur town to Charmuguria, then on to Nayachar.

Good to know

Do not feed or tease the monkeys, and keep food and phones out of reach; they snatch. Avoid carrying open snacks.
