In mango season, women across Shibganj upazila spread layer after layer of ripe mango pulp, often with a little sugar, on bamboo mats and dry it in the sun until it becomes chewy, tangy-sweet sheets. Families in unions such as Kansat, Mobarakpur and Shahbazpur earn extra income this way. Kansat is the main amshotto market of the district, and trucks carry it from there to Dhaka. It keeps for months, so it is the easiest mango taste to take home.
Good to know
Fresh stock comes in during and right after the mango season (June–August).
