Darasbari Mosque and Madrasa

দারাসবাড়ি মসজিদ ও মাদ্রাসা

Roofless brick ruins of a great Sultanate mosque and one of Bengal's earliest known madrasas.

A short walk through fields from Choto Sona Masjid, the Darasbari Mosque dates from the late 15th century. Its domes have fallen, leaving rows of brick piers and arched walls open to the sky, with terracotta ornament still visible in places. Nearby, excavations revealed the foundations of a large madrasa built around a courtyard. The setting among ponds and paddy is peaceful and photogenic.

How to get there

From the Choto Sona Masjid area, take a rickshaw or van along the village road.
