Shrine of Shah Paran

শাহ পরাণের মাজার

The hilltop shrine of Shah Jalal's nephew and companion, the second great pilgrimage stop in Sylhet.

Shah Paran is remembered as a nephew and companion of Shah Jalal, who came to Sylhet with him in the 14th century. His shrine stands on a small hillock at Khadim Para on the eastern edge of the city, reached by a flight of steps, with a mosque and a large compound around it. Pilgrims who visit Shah Jalal's shrine usually come here too, and Thursdays and the annual urs are especially crowded.

How to get there

About 8 km east of Sylhet city centre; take a CNG or local bus toward Shahporan / Khadim Para.

Good to know

Dress modestly and remove shoes at the shrine. Women's access to the inner tomb area may be restricted. Visit Shah Jalal's shrine the same day.
