Lalakhal is a stretch of the Sari river in Jaintiapur, famous for its turquoise and emerald colours, which come from minerals and the clear water flowing down from the Meghalaya hills. Engine boats carry visitors upstream from Sarighat, past sandbanks, forest and tea estates toward the border. The colour is most vivid in winter when the water is clearest.
