Dibir Haor in Jaintiapur upazila is made up of four connected beels, Dibi, Iyam, Harafkata and Kendri, covering roughly 900 acres. From late autumn into winter the water fills with naturally growing red water lilies, which is why locals call it the lal shapla beel. Small boats take you among the flowers, with the hills across the border as a backdrop. The flowers open early and close as the sun gets strong, so mornings are everything here.

How to get there

Take a bus or CNG from Sylhet toward Jaintiapur on the Tamabil road (about 1–1.5 hours), then a CNG or auto to the beel; local boats are hired at the edge.

Good to know

Reach by sunrise or soon after; by late morning the lilies close. Don't pick the flowers. Stay well away from the border line.
