Haripur Rajbari
হরিপুর রাজবাড়ী
A faded zamindar palace in a remote border upazila, with decorated facades and empty halls.
Haripur Rajbari was the home of a local zamindar family during the British period. The two-storey building has arched windows, decorative plasterwork and inner courtyards, now weathered and partly overgrown. It gives a sense of how landed families lived in this distant corner of Bengal. The surrounding upazila is rural and quiet, close to the Indian border.
How to get there
Buses run from Thakurgaon to Haripur via Ranisankail; ask locally for the Rajbari.
Good to know
The building is fragile; do not climb on walls. Carry ID near the border.
