The Friendship Centre is a training and community centre built for a development organisation working on the chars. Designed by Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum, it is set partly below ground behind an embankment to cope with floods, with brick courtyards, pools and planted roofs. The building won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2016. Architecture lovers come here specially, but it is little known to general travellers.
