Overnight river launch to Barishal

The classic multi-deck river launch that sails from Dhaka's Sadarghat by night to Barishal by dawn.

For generations, the people of the south have travelled to Dhaka and back on large multi-deck launches. They leave Sadarghat in the evening, cross the Meghna under the night sky and dock at Barishal around dawn. Passengers sleep in cabins or on mats on deck, with tea sellers and food stalls on board. Even with the new Padma Bridge roads, the journey remains a loved part of river culture.
