Built in 1879 by Maharaja Suryakanta Acharya Chowdhury, the building was named after Alexandra, then Princess of Wales. Its walls use iron sheeting in places, which gave it the local nickname 'Lohar Kuthi'. Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi and other figures are said to have stayed here. It now lies inside the grounds of a teachers' training college, so ask permission to look around.
