Tetulia Tea Gardens

তেঁতুলিয়ার চা বাগান

Neat rows of tea on flat land, running right up to the border fence.

Unlike the hilly gardens of Sylhet, Panchagarh's tea grows on flat plains, a cultivation that took off from the late 1990s. Large estates and thousands of small farmers' plots now cover much of Tetulia upazila. Walking the paths between the bushes, you can watch pluckers at work and see shade trees lined up in rows. The green landscape with the border just beyond is unlike anywhere else in the country.

How to get there

Gardens line the roads around Tetulia; hire an auto-rickshaw or bicycle from Tetulia bazar.

Good to know

Ask permission before entering private estates. Plucking is busiest from spring to autumn.
