Milk, Ghee and Doi of the Dairy Belt

The low pastures around Shahzadpur, Ullapara and the edge of Chalan Beel are one of Bangladesh's main dairy areas, with thousands of small farms. The national milk cooperative has a large plant at Baghabari, collecting milk from across the area. Locally, the milk becomes ghee, sweet doi, sweets and fresh butter. Morning milk markets, with cans arriving by bicycle and boat, are a lively sight.
