Natudah Secondary School in Damurhuda upazila was founded by the local zamindar Nafarchandra Pal Chowdhury at the request of his wife, and first carried her name as the Radharani Institution. Its 1906 building was laid out by a Kolkata firm on a plan of 15 rooms per floor ringed by corridors, roughly 250 doors to a floor and about a thousand in all, which is why people call it Hazarduari. Only one storey was built on the four-storey foundation. Calcutta University recognised the school in 1909 and it still teaches on a 9-acre campus.
How to get there
From Chuadanga town go by bus or CNG to Damurhuda and on to Natudah; it fits with a visit to Aat Kobor nearby.
Good to know
It is a working school, so visit on a holiday or after classes and ask at the office before walking around.
