Pera Sandesh
প্যারা সন্দেশ
Naogaon's famous roll-shaped milk sweet, light brown and gently sweet.
Pera sandesh is made by cooking milk and sugar down into a thick kheer, then rolling small portions by hand and pressing them into short logs. The result is dense, fudgy and slightly caramelised in flavour. It is traced to sweet makers in the Kalitala area of Naogaon town, where it was first made as a temple offering. Today it is the sweet visitors are expected to carry home.
Good to know
It keeps for a few days, so it travels well as a gift.
