Mud crabs are caught in Sundarbans creeks and also fattened in ponds near the forest edge. In Mongla and on cruise boats they are often cooked as a dry, spicy bhuna. Cracking the shells by hand is part of the meal. Ask for them in season and confirm the price before cooking.
