Lalmonirhat Railway Heritage
লালমনিরহাট রেলওয়ে ঐতিহ্য
A small town that grew as a railway headquarters, with colonial quarters and old station buildings.
Lalmonirhat grew up as a railway junction in the British era and became the headquarters of one of the country's railway divisions. Old brick offices, staff quarters, a railway hospital and wide roads lined with trees still define the town centre. Railway jobs shaped its community, and many families can trace their roots to the trains. Walking around the station area shows a slower, older side of North Bengal.
How to get there
Lalmonirhat station is in the town centre; trains run from Dhaka and Rangpur.
Good to know
Some railway premises are restricted; enjoy the public areas and streets.
