Boal, shol, koi and small fish from Hail Haor, auctioned fresh every morning at Baruna Ghat near Srimangal.
Hail Haor, just west of Srimangal, is a big wetland full of native fish. Each morning fishermen bring their catch to Baruna Ghat bazar on the haor's edge, where boal, rui, katla, shol, koi, magur, puti and mola are sold by auction for a couple of hours. Traders then carry the fish into Srimangal's markets and rice hotels, where you can have it as a curry or fry with rice.
