Garia Dance

গরিয়া নৃত্য

A Tripura community dance performed from village to village during the new-year festival, Boisu.

Garia is a traditional Tripura ritual and dance associated with the god Garia, performed in the days around the new year. Groups of dancers move from house to house with drums and flutes, and households offer them food and drink in return for blessings. Khagrachhari, with its large Tripura population, is one of the best places to see it.
