Alutila Cave
আলুটিলা গুহা
A short, pitch-black natural tunnel under a hill, crossed by torchlight with cold water at your feet.
Alutila is a hill just outside Khagrachhari town, and the cave runs right through it for a few hundred feet. Inside it is completely dark, damp and cool, with a stream trickling along the rocky floor, so visitors carry a torch or a traditional burning stick. Emerging at the far end into daylight is the moment people remember. The hilltop above also has a viewpoint over the town and surrounding ridges.
How to get there
About 15–20 minutes by CNG or jeep from Khagrachhari town on the Chattogram road.
Good to know
Bring a strong torch and shoes that can get wet. Avoid if you are uncomfortable in tight dark spaces. Foreigners need prior permission for the Chittagong Hill Tracts; check current advisories.
