Dibar Dighi lies in Dibar village in Patnitala upazila, beside the Najipur–Sapahar road. In the middle of the tank stands a tall, uninscribed granite pillar with a crown-like top ringed by three bands, its lower part under water. Historians link it to Divya (Dibyak), the Kaivarta chief who rebelled against the Pala king Mahipala II in the 11th century and took over Varendra, and the village name may come from him. Local legend prefers a simpler story: that a jinn dug the tank in a single night.
How to get there
Take a bus from Naogaon to Najipur (Patnitala), then a CNG or auto-rickshaw along the Sapahar road to Dibar.
Good to know
The water level changes how much of the pillar you see; it shows best in the dry season. Combine with Alta Dighi on the same day.
