Chhanamukhi

ছানামুখী

Small, firm cubes of fried chhana coated in a thin crust of sugar, Brahmanbaria's signature sweet.

Chhanamukhi is made by pressing fresh chhana into a block, cutting it into small cubes, frying them and then cooking them in syrup until a dry, sugary coat forms. The result is chewy inside and crisp outside, quite unlike the syrupy sweets of most districts. It takes several litres of milk to make one kilogram, which keeps it special. In 2024 it received Geographical Indication status as a product of Brahmanbaria.
