Bhutiar Bil is a large seasonal wetland in Terokhada, spreading partly into neighbouring Narail. In the wet months a stretch of it fills with sacred lotus, pink and white flowers standing above broad leaves. Local boatmen paddle small boats between the blooms. The flowers are freshest just after sunrise and begin to close as the day heats up.

How to get there

Go by bus or auto from Khulna to Terokhada, then a local vehicle to the bil edge and hire a small boat.

Good to know

Arrive between 7 and 8:30 am; the boats are small, so travel light and keep phones in a dry bag.
