In Tetulia village in Tala upazila, Khan Bahadur Qazi Salamatullah of the local zamindar family built a six-domed Mughal-style mosque in 1858–59. Close by are the remains of his mansion, Salam Manzil, once known for its long twin-pillared verandah and a palanquin so big it needed twelve bearers. The mansion's gateway has been rebuilt, but the rest is now mostly in ruins. The mosque is still in use and is the main reason to come; the village setting makes it a peaceful detour.
How to get there
Bus from Satkhira to Tala (about 1 hour), then an easy bike or van to Tetulia village.
Good to know
Ask for 'Tetulia Shahi Masjid'. Visit outside prayer times, and do not climb on the mansion ruins.
