Munshiganj and the Burigoalini forest station face the mangroves across the Chunar and Kholpetua rivers. From here boats head into the western Sundarbans for day trips and longer cruises. The villages themselves show coastal life up close, with crab ponds, salt-tolerant farming and boatyards. Evenings on the embankment, looking across at the forest, are calm and lovely.
How to get there
Bus from Satkhira town to Shyamnagar (about 2 hrs), then local transport to Munshiganj or Burigoalini.
Good to know
Forest entry needs a Forest Department permit, issued through the Burigoalini station or arranged by a licensed operator, plus an armed guard for deeper trips. Do not swim or wander off trails; tigers and crocodiles live here. Check weather warnings during cyclone season.
