Shimul Bagan, Tahirpur

শিমুল বাগান, তাহিরপুর

A large planted grove of silk-cotton trees that turns blazing red with flowers in late winter.

Shimul Bagan, Tahirpur

Near the Jadukata river, thousands of shimul (red silk-cotton) trees were planted in neat rows on a large plot of land. Around Falgun, in February and March, the trees lose their leaves and burst into crimson blossom, and fallen flowers carpet the ground. It is a short ride from Barikka Tila and a favourite with photographers in spring.

How to get there

From Tahirpur by motorbike or CNG; often combined with Barikka Tila.

Good to know

Visit in February–early March for flowers; the rest of the year it is just a grove.
