Around Satla in Wazirpur, low-lying beels fill with water each monsoon and then bloom with water lilies, the national flower. In the early morning the surface turns red and white as far as you can see. Local boatmen paddle visitors through narrow channels between the flowers, and farmers collect lily stems to sell as vegetables. It is a seasonal sight that rewards an early start.

How to get there

From Barishal, travel to Wazirpur by bus, then onward to Satla by local transport.

Good to know

Arrive before 9 am when flowers are open; respect farmers' collecting areas.
