Patharghata is a major fish landing centre on the Bishkhali, where trawlers return from the Bay with hilsa and other sea fish. In season the docks are a frenzy of boats, baskets and auctioneers. Local hotels cook the fish fresh, fried or with mustard. It is the freshest hilsa you will find.
