When the Teesta drops in the dry season, its sandy chars become fields, and peanuts are one of the main crops. Farmers in Dimla and nearby upazilas harvest them in late winter and spring. Roasted in hot sand in iron pans, the nuts are sold by the paper cone at markets and bus stands. They are a simple taste of the river's working landscape.
