Meherpur Himsagar Mango

About sixty percent of Meherpur's mango orchards are Himsagar, a variety prized for its thick, fibreless, very fragrant flesh. Orchards in Sadar upazila villages such as Jhaubaria and Subidpur supply buyers from Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet, and since 2016 some of the crop has been exported to Europe. The harvest peaks from late May through June. Bagged Himsagar, grown in paper bags on the tree, fetches a little more than ordinary fruit.
