Kutubdia is an island upazila in the Bay of Bengal, a short boat ride from the mainland at Magnamaghat. It is famous for its lighthouse, which guides ships toward Chattogram port. The island is covered with salt pans and shrimp ponds, and its western shore has quiet beaches and an early wind-power project. Most visitors to Cox's Bazar never come here, so it feels like a different world.

How to get there

From Cox's Bazar or Chakaria go to Magnamaghat in Pekua, then cross by speedboat or trawler to Kutubdia; use a CNG or easy-bike on the island.

Good to know

Check boat timings before crossing and avoid rough weather or cyclone signals. Accommodation is basic.
