In Guroi village of Nikli upazila stands an old square mosque with a large bulb-shaped dome and four octagonal corner minarets. A long, narrow inscription at the base of the dome is read as dating it to around 1680, and the building mixes Mughal and earlier Sultanate features; locals claim it is much older. Its western wall has three mihrabs, the central one larger. Few of the visitors who come to Nikli for the haor know it is there.
How to get there
From Nikli upazila town take an auto or, in the rainy season, a boat to Guroi village.
Good to know
Pair it with a boat ride on Nikli Haor. It is an active mosque, so visit outside prayer times.
