A steep half-day climb near Rangamati town to a hilltop Buddhist shrine with wide views over the lake country.
See the place on video
Furomon is one of the higher hills close to Rangamati, rising on the border of Rangamati Sadar and Kaukhali upazilas. A narrow, uneven footpath climbs for two to three hours to the top, where there is an army camp, a Buddha image and a small Buddhist temple. From the summit you see ridges rolling away and, on clear days, parts of Kaptai Lake. It is popular with local trekkers but few outside visitors know about it.
How to get there
From Rangamati town take a CNG along the Chattogram road toward Sapchhari/Manikchhari and ask for the Furomon trail, then climb on foot.
Good to know
Start early, carry plenty of water and wear good shoes; the path is steep and slippery after rain. Follow instructions at the army camp on top.
