Bhimruli floating guava market
ভীমরুলী ভাসমান পেয়ারা বাজার
Hundreds of guava boats crowd a canal junction where every sale happens on the water.
Bhimruli, on the Kirtipasha canal, hosts the largest of the region's floating guava markets. In season, hundreds of canoes piled with green fruit gather, and traders move from boat to boat to bargain. Surrounding canals pass guava and amra orchards, with small bridges and homesteads along the banks. Hiring a boat to explore the waterways is the best way to see it.
How to get there
From Jhalokathi town take an auto to Bhimruli (about 30 min), or come from Barishal by road.
Good to know
Go early on a market morning in July or August; carry a dry bag and wear sandals.
