Arial Beel is a large, low-lying wetland between the Padma and Dhaleshwari, much of it in Sreenagar upazila. In monsoon and early autumn it fills with water and white and red shapla lilies, and small boats glide between village islands. In the dry season the land is farmed, and the beel is known for very large sweet pumpkins. It is one of the closest real wetland landscapes to Dhaka.
How to get there
From Dhaka take the Mawa expressway to Sreenagar, then a local auto and boat into the beel.
Good to know
Go early morning for lilies; hire a boat locally and carry sun protection.
