Hundreds of thousands of date palms make Chuadanga a major winter gur producer.
Chuadanga has a large number of date palms, and winter gur is a big local trade. Tappers collect sap at dawn and boil it in shallow pans in the fields, filling the air with a sweet, smoky smell. Gur is sold liquid in pots or set into patali. It is the base of the season's pitha and payesh.
