Abdus Salam, one of the martyrs shot in Dhaka on 21 February 1952 while protesting for Bangla as a state language, was born in a village of Daganbhuiyan upazila in Feni. The village, now renamed Salamnagar, has a memorial library and museum in his honour. Visiting on or around 21 February, International Mother Language Day, shows how deeply the movement is remembered locally.
